About Us

The Monkey’s Tale Bar, located at 925 E. Westfield Boulevard in Broad Ripple, started out as Broad Ripple’s best-kept secret in June of 1986. Tucked away at the back of the “Blue Room” in The Jazz Cooker Restaurant, it boasted a total of nine seats at the bar. For the first two years of its existence, a small (select) group of employees, family, and friends ate, drank, and made merry until the wee hours of the morning. Then, the secret got out (yet, it is still considered one of Broad Ripple’s best-kept secrets)!

Time is change and change is good. Since 1986, The Monkey’s Tale has grown in size, recognition, and prominence. Although the restaurant closed December 31, of 2005, The Monkey’s Tale (now very much its own entity) continued serving the partying public in Broad Ripple a variety of great music, good times, and great drinks. The Monkey’s Tale showcases local and regional bands year-round on stage and (weather permitting) under the stars in the spring, summer, and fall.

Hours of operation vary with the season. Currently, we open at 8pm on Monday and Tuesday and 6pm Wednesday through Saturday. On Sundays, we open at 2pm (serving until 3am each night).

With so many extra hours available, we decided to share our space. The Monkey’s Tale is available to rent for private parties Sunday through Thursday, day and evening, as well as during non-business hours on Friday and Saturday. You are welcome to bring your own food and arrange for your own entertainment. We’ll take care of the cocktails and (of course) a place for everyone to party!

Special orders (such as a case of a specific wine or a particular assortment of imported beers) are not a problem with advance notice. We are happy to host company celebrations, wedding receptions, graduation parties, anniversary parties, birthday parties and more.
